Support CANSA on Tekkie Tax Day & Learn to do a Self-Breast Examination
14 May 2019 – This year, International Tekkie Tax Day will be celebrated on Friday, 31 May 2019 and CANSA invites the public to be “Tekkie-tized” and “Mezzz-merized” in aid of CANSA’s education programmes to lower cancer risk, and care & support programmes for those affected by cancer! Stickers (R10), tattoos (R10) and “hickies” or multi-coloured silicone shoelaces (R40) are available at CANSA Care Centres countrywide, and staff will be educating supporters on how to do a breast self-examination.
Maria Scholtz, CANSA’s Head of Sustainability says, “We look forward to seeing supporters proudly wearing their “educational” sticker and mezzz-merizing Tekkies on Friday, 31 May. Participants can get involved as individuals, companies or a group or friends. CANSA relies on funds generated to continue providing our care and support programmes, which help cancer Survivors, loved ones and caregivers cope with a cancer diagnosis and side effects of treatment. Funds raised also enable us to continue educating communities about the importance of screening and lowering cancer risk. View the reach of our educational programmes and how many patients we have assisted in the past financial year on our website. CANSA is also excited to be educating Tekkie Tax supporters on how to do a self-breast examination at local CANSA Care Centres when they purchase their Tekkie Tax kit, as we believe that early detection is key, in order to diagnose cancer in its initial stages, for a better treatment outcome.”
If participants are not able to visit local CANSA Care Centres, they may purchase the Tekkie Tax kit at any ToysRUs / BabiesRUs store (no t-shirts); or order online at www.takealot.com and have it delivered at home / office; or www.tekkietax.org.
Participation is easy:
1. Choose the “education” sticker (R10)
2. Mezzz-merize Tekkies with a set of the brand-new Tekkie Tax hickie shoelaces (R40)
3. Purchase the 2019 Campaign t-shirt at R100 for adults and R80 for children (purchase online www.tekkietax.org.) or choose between one of two “2019 Limited Edition t-shirts” at R130 (adult sizes only)
