“We help children and families cope with the effects of cancer through our CANSA TLC programme by overseeing the educational, emotional, recreational and support assistance. By partnering with the hospital, we can improve our on-going support provided to children affected and traumatised by cancer,” says Sue Janse Van Rensburg (CANSA CEO).
Other services on offer are upliftment, training on cancer warning signs and symptoms, dietary information and education, pain and symptom control and ‘end of life’ care.“CANSA is very grateful for the wonderful support from workplaces, donors, churches and individuals to establish this unit. You are all helping to make a difference in a child and their loved ones lives as they undergo cancer treatment” added Janse Van Rensburg.
CANSA welcomes any volunteers who are interested in becoming part of this programme to contact the CANSA Polokwane Care Centre on 015-297 1268.
