Miss, Mr and Mrs Charity Mentorship Programme
26 March 2018 – The Cancer Association of South Africa of South Africa (CANSA) announces a new mentorship Miss, Mrs and Mrs Charity competition that aims to raise funds as well as mentor entrants regarding event planning, how to be a brand ambassador, skills development, budget planning and public speaking. The competition, launching end March 2018, sees entrants nominated in three categories – Miss, Mr and Mrs Charity.
Munnik Marais, CANSA’s Corporate Relations Manager says, “It’s a mentorship and community development programme for those that want to be part of our non-profit organisation as well raising funds. CANSA relies on income generated from its fundraising events and projects in order to sustain care and support programmes and we welcome this exciting new venture.”
So the call is for nominations to enter for Miss, Mr or Mrs Charity and represent CANSA as brand ambassadors. The closing date for nominations is 30 June 2018 and then the winners will be announced in February 2019.
“Nominees will be coached and mentored on how to host successful events – the idea is to assist nominees in hosting events that are exciting, having a budget plan, how to plan entertainment, how to utilise social media effectively, tips on public speaking and motivational talks. And it’s important to share a health message on lowering the cancer risk and promoting early detection,” adds Marais
On offer as part of the competition, will be workshops that include mentorship, motivation, public speaking, enhancing your image, make-up, networking and event planning. Prizes have been secured for the final winners in all categories.
Jakkie Louw, singer and celebrity and one of the main mentors states, “I am keen to assist nominees and mentor them about the world of music and concerts and how that can be used to raise cancer awareness and funds as an event. Cancer the disease has taken away personal friends and in this way I can give back and fight cancer by mentoring others.”
