CANSA has declared August 2017 CANSA Care Month, with special focus on Caregivers. No first-time caregiver knows what to do as there are no rules and regulations to follow, however CANSA is able to offer knowledge, information, support and encouragement whenever required.

CANSA is joining forces with kidney cancer organisations around the world to mark the first-ever World Kidney Cancer Q & A Day. World Kidney Cancer Q & A Day has been established by the International Kidney Cancer Coalition of which CANSA is an affiliate member. CANSA was part of the establishment of World Kidney Cancer Day through Prof Michael Herbst, CANSA’s Health Specialist who is a Board Member and Director.

30 May 2017: CANSA supports MERAN’s presentation to the KZN Legislature (Health Portfolio Committee) today, and has been afforded the opportunity to share our portfolio of evidence relating to KZN treatment access and patient experiences, as part of this presentation. This will be the start of an ongoing dialogue with stakeholders and an opportunity to work together to find solutions to the challenging problems facing KZN healthcare delivery.

Says Katherine, “Melanomas can look like any lump or bump, so that is why it is so important to know our bodies and watch for changes. You should do a skin self-examination every few weeks. Most importantly, this is why EVERYONE should have an annual skin check by a dermatologist.”
