CANSA attended AACR International Conference on New Frontiers in Cancer Research Jan 2017
The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) International Conference on New Frontiers in Cancer Research was held in Cape Town from January 18 – 22, 2017. This innovative programme brought the forefront of cancer science to Africa and appealed to a broad spectrum of cancer researchers—from laboratory scientists to physicians in all disciplines of the cancer field. As part of AACR’s international efforts the meeting featured talks from leading basic, translational, and clinical researchers across pertinent areas in cancer research.
The program also featured several sessions dedicated to cancers that have a high rate of incidence in Africa and included international speakers and local South African and African experts. In addition to the disease sites of particular interest to local researchers and clinicians, the program featured sessions on DNA repair, epigenetics, genomic medicine, immunotherapy, molecular targets, prevention, and viruses and cancer.
