Will you ride for a Purpose? Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge 2014
It’s always thrilling to see how loyal and committed our riders are! Thank you for caring about the many men, women, boys and girls who are experiencing the hardships of cancer. Through our riders’ support of the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge last year, we raised almost R65 000 – all of which is allocated to providing care and support to those affected by cancer.
Your participation would be deeply appreciated.
We’re hoping that you’ll take part in the fight against cancer and join us for the 2014 ride.
Ride for CANSA Active with the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge
The Momentum 94.7 Ride for a Purpose campaign has proven to provide an incomparable platform for cyclists to create awareness about personal causes that are close to their hearts, and this year is no different. Come join our CANSA cause as we strive to create a world without cancer for you, your loved ones as well as your community.
This year, CANSA Active has one of the 8000 reserved Charity Bond race spots for Joburg’s favourite race – so register as part of our charity bond team or as an individual. Cycling as part of our CANSA Active campaign in support or remembrance of a family member, friend, colleague or neighbour with cancer will help make a difference.
- Our CANSA Active campaign gives you the opportunity to participate in your favourite sporting activity or race, while raising funds for CANSA.
- CANSA’s purpose is to lead the fight against cancer in South Africa. Its mission is to be the preferred non-profit organisation that enables research, educates the public and provides support to all people affected by cancer

What is a charity bond?
A charity bond is a team that is put together by a particular charity to help raise funds for the charity. The charity makes use of the event as a platform for fundraising. The team has to be made up of twenty cyclists or more – there is no limit to the number of people that are riding under the charity bond.
What are the advantages of having a charity bond/team?
It’s there to create awareness for the charity or the cause. If a charity is registered with the event, the charity bond will be given a favourable start group and time. The earlier that you register the charity group, the more favourable the start group and time will be.
The favourable charity start times will only be available once the seeding run has been done in October. They WILL BE significantly different from the previous years. This is due to the high demand of people joining charities.

What is the minimum and maximum number of entrants allowed in a charity bond?
The minimum number is 20 cyclists to make up the charity bond. You don’t have to have the 20 cyclists when you first register the bond.
CANSA Active needs 20 cyclists by 20 July 2014
Can pro-cyclists or non-novice cyclists also enter with the charity?
Yes, they may. They are most welcome.
The system will seed them according to their index and if they HAVE a better start time, they will be seeded at that time. They may choose to drop to the charity start time, or to ride with their peers.
All novice cyclists will be put directly into the charity start time, if their time is after the charity start time, they will be automatically put into the charity start group.
