Type D Research Projects
Please note that CARISA will be dissolved as a distinct entity on 31st March 2014. Subsequently, pre-existing grant management activities will be transferred to CANSA.
Type D Research Projects are projects that are of national importance, multi-institutional and multi-disciplinary. They usually last 3-4 years and receive R1 – R1.5 million in funding for the entire period. So far there have been two of these projects focusing on women’s health, specifically the prevention of cervical cancer by early detection or by vaccination against the HPV. At present there is no Type D project in operation.
Type D projects are large multi-institutional and multi-disciplinary projects aimed to investigate cancer problems of national importance, such as the high incidence of cervical cancer in South Africa.
