Sanlam Cancer Challenge – CANSA says thank you

Sanlam Cancer Challenge – CANSA says thank you

Thank you

“CANSA is grateful to Sanlam and all golf clubs that took part in 2011’s Sanlam Cancer Challenge.  Your support helps us to continue the fight against cancer in South Africa and brings us closer to the challenge of a cancer-free society within this century.   We committed to connecting people facing cancer with the information, day-to-day help, and emotional support they need – in the communities where they live – to help people through every step of their cancer journey,”  says Rachel Wall, CANSA’s Chief Business Development Officer.

Dave and Nora Simpson says thank you: “Dear Sanlam, I am writing to thank you firstly, for the most amazing funding for cancer that is done through the Sanlam Cancer Challenge and secondly, for the wonderful opportunity given to me to participate in the golf challenge at Sun City.  It was an experience I will treasure forever.  I have come away from Sun City with a completely different understanding of the first round of this competition at club level. I have spoken to members of our golf committee in Ladysmith and together we intend to have a big drive for funds for cancer in the first round of next year’s challenge.  I am personally a cancer survivor and intend to get involved with this project.  Once again, thank you so much for your sponsorship and commitment to this worthy cause.  Yours Sincerely.”

Pat Smith says thank you: “I would like to thank Sanlam most sincerely for the wonderful Sanlam Cancer Challenge Finals golf event at Sun City these last few days. We were all truly spoilt and made to feel so special.  I was lucky to win the Ladies B Division and also came 2nd overall in the Ladies section, so it was extra special for me as this is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me in my 24 year golfing career! My husband, daughter and I play golf at Cato Ridge Country Club in Kwazulu Natal, a beautiful 18 hole country course.  Having lost both my parents to cancer, I really appreciate what Sanlam is doing in the research towards eliminating cancer.  I was made very aware of Cancer over these last few days and I would like to encourage every golfer in South Africa to compete in this tournament each year because our participation helps towards this good cause as every one of us has lost a friend of relative to this dreaded disease.  Thank you Sanlam.”

Sally Greasley (President of the Eastern Cape Women’s Golf Association) says thank you: “On behalf of all the girls from the Eastern Cape I would like to thank Nic Lanham and Sanlam very much for the great fun we had over the past few days at Sun City.   It was a first time for me and now I am just looking forward to next year!  Thank you personally for all the work you put into the event – and of course to your support team.  When I hear some of the ladies in our Province declaring they aren’t going to play because the prizes aren’t enough – or whatever the excuse is – I will quickly remind them of the incredible stories we heard from CANSA.  There is so much more to it than a game of golf!   And how incredible that the two young winners have both been so unfairly hit by the disease – brings it all into perspective.  See you next year!”
