Title of the project
Hodgkin Lymphoma in South African Children Adolescents from 2000-2010: A first report by the South African Children’s Cancer Study Group.
To determine the overall survival rate and the event-free survival rate of South African children with Hodgkin Lymphoma and to compare these rates across the different treating units. This project is the first epidemiological study of its kind in SA that analyses data from every paediatric oncology unit in the country. The significance and applicability of prognostic factors in these children will also be determined and this knowledge will be used to adapt treatment regiments to the local setting. This nationwide harmonisation of treatment protocols should decrease costs of treatment and increase cure rates of South African children with Hodgkin Lymphoma.
