CANSA’s Stamp of Approval on New Russell Hobbs Steamer
Russell Hobbs’s brand new Food Steamer has qualified for the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) Seal of Recognition (CSOR) as a CANSA Smart Choice – a first in the food preparation category. Steamers have been also been donated to all the CANSA Care Homes across the country to promote steaming as a smart choice of food preparation for cancer patients.
“We’re honoured to be a part of the life-saving work CANSA is doing in terms of cancer prevention and control,” says Irene Borges, General Manager of Marketing (Appliances) Tedelex Trading. “We want to be part of promoting balanced lifestyles and pleased that we helping CANSA staff to prepare healthy, steamed food for cancer survivors in the CANSA Care Homes.”
The steamer is for sale or available nationally at Makro, Boardmans, Friedman & Cohen, Hirschs, Pick n Pay, Sentra, Spar, Stax Superstores and various independents.
The Russell Hobbs food steamer has passed the strict South African National Standards (SANS) tests in order to qualify for the CANSA Smart Choice and the food process of steaming, cuts out the need for oils and fats and preserves much more nutrients.
Says Sue Janse Van Rensburg, CANSA CEO, “We play an important ‘watchdog’ role by encouraging and educating consumers to choose goods and services in terms of health impact and promoting smart choices. You can have peace of mind when using this steamer as steaming food helps reduce the cancer risk.”As part of their Balanced Lifestyle campaign (during March and April) CANSA advises that the risk of developing cancer can be significantly reduced through getting regular exercise, making healthy eating choices, limiting alcohol intake and avoiding tobacco.
Van Rensburg adds, “By making smart choices every day and following a balanced lifestyle you can celebrate life and inspire others to do so too.”
“Over 80 years ago CANSA was born out of compassion for people whose lives had been touched by cancer. To commemorate this achievement CANSA launched its latest book, ‘Life is Beautiful’ – a publication that sets out to educate South Africans on adopting a balanced lifestyle –in order to be cancer-free,” concludes Janse van Rensburg. The book includes recipes from celebrities like Evita and cancer survivor Jeremy Mansfield.
