Create Memories – Host a Cuppa For CANSA

Children's Cuppa 1 small12 May 2013: Why not turn your next staff meeting, tea party, club get-together or social gathering into “A Cuppa that Cares”? Help fight cancer by supporting our Cuppa For CANSA campaign, launching in June at our CANSA Care Homes.

Cuppa For CANSA, proudly supported by Shoprite and Checkers, is a fun event that encourages people to enjoy a cup of their favourite beverage and support a great cause by giving a donation to CANSA.

“Shoprite and Checkers have a long and proud association as the main sponsors of the Cuppa For CANSA campaign. We’re delighted that we can contribute to CANSA’s Care Homes who help care for cancer survivors, by donating Shoprite and Checkers vouchers to five CANSA Care Homes around the country.” says Brian Weyers, a Director of the Shoprite Group.

The Shoprite Group will be participating in CANSA Cuppa launches taking place at CANSA Strelitzia Care Home in Port Elizabeth, CANSA Tygerberg Care Home in Cape Town, CANSA Katleho Care Home in Bloemfontein, CANSA Tipuana Care Home in Pretoria and CANSA Mkhuhla Care Home in Durban, where they will hand over a cheque of R15 000 to each home.

Cuppa For CANSA’s 2013’s theme is ‘Care and Support’.  Says Sue Janse van Rensburg, CANSA CEO, “At our Care Homes, we offer care and support, as well as provide home-from-home accommodation to patients undergoing cancer treatment far from home.  Patients stay for an average of six weeks and receive meals and transport to and from treatment centres, as well as counselling and emotional support.” Read more about our Holistic Care & Support here…

We encourage you to join us in taking part in and help raise funds for our care and support programmes by hosting your own CANSA Cuppa.” You could also show your support at any of the Shoprite, Checkers and Checkers Hyper stores nationwide for an in-store Cuppa For CANSA during the month of June. For a donation of R5 or more, consumers can get a piece of cake and a cup of tea. Each store will host up to 2 Cuppas in the month of June to raise funds.

Cuppas can take on many forms, and hosts can be very creative and create their own special memories.  Plan for a big, small, casual or fancy Cuppa where you can serve a variety of beverages such as teas, coffee, hot chocolate, juice, soup or even delicious fruit smoothies.”

Great prizes are also up for grabs for the best Cuppa event and host. Some of these include a full body massage by SheerBliss, Nisim Hair product hampers, one of six satin pillow cases to the value of R894, two night’s accommodation at the Fordoun Hotel and Spa in KZN Midlands and a weekend away for two at Springbok Lodge in KZN. In order to be a finalist, please send five high quality photos and share in no more than 300 words why your Cuppa event created memories to treasure – send to mscholtz@cansa.org.za by 31 October 2013 or register on our Cuppa Mini-website.

Cuppa hosts can also encourage their families, friends, colleagues and networks to donate online via CANSA’s Cuppa Mini-website.  All the details regarding Cuppa tea party registration, fundraising ideas, as well as tea party invitations, posters and planners are available here and can be downloaded.  Photos of Cuppa events will be added to the photo gallery – email them to info@cansa.org.za
