The CSOR is awarded to manufacturers and distributors of UV protective products and apparel to support SunSmart behaviour. The CSOR currently appears on sunscreen products, clothing, hats, sunglasses, vehicle glass and shadenetting.
Sunscreen products are rated for the UV protection abilities according to the SANS (South African National Standards) which have been harmonised internationally and need to comply with strict CANSA criteria. Clothing, hats, etc. are rated according to the Australian/New Zealand standard, which has been recognised internationally. Read more...

Smart Choices products that display CANSA’s emblem are chosen according to the South African Food Based Dietary Guidelines which were specifically developed as positive, practical, affordable, sustainable and culturally sensitive guidelines for South Africans over the age of 5 years. The guidelines are based on the existing consumption of locally available foods and aim to address identified nutrition-related public health problems. Read more...
