TLC Nicus Lodge 22The CANSA TLC Nicus Lodge is situated at the Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria and offers home-from-home accommodation to parents, guardians and care-givers of children undergoing treatment far from their homes.

Parents and guardians may stay free of charge for the duration of their child or ward’s treatment and 47 beds are available for them to use. The lodge is open all year. Wards are within walking distance of the lodge. This is ideal for parents who stay far away from treatment centres or who struggle with transport costs when taking their child for treatment.

Services Offered at TLC Nicus Lodge:

Parents can prepare their own meals in the fully equipped kitchen and donated food is provided for them to prepare. CANSA TLC staff supply linen, toiletries and clothes necessary and a laundry service is available.

Other services and initiatives include: counselling; prosthetic support; training re cancer signs & symptoms in children; dietary information and education; pain and symptom control and ‘end of life’ care. Arts & Crafts activities are also offered to help pass the time constructively.

Please consider making a donation towards supporting our TLC programme so that we can help more children and families. Donations will assist with the provision of prosthetic support (children who have lost an eye or limb); the provision of wheelchairs; pain control implants and medical equipment.

    I would like to give you my attetion with this accomodation Center for the ill..
    i am currently in High school and it worries me so much, i would like to know if i can help in anyway possible, im currently planning on doing a Cansa presentation on the lodge this coming Monday.
    And I am planning on starting a charity fund raiser for the lodge..
    I would like to know if this is acceptable and appropriate for this cause.
