CANSA Educates West Coast College Students
MSAT Matzikama in conjunction with CANSA launched an awareness campaign for Women’s Health on 19 August 2015 at West Coast College in Vredendal North.
A total of 137 students from the Primary Health Care classes attended the session. Students were informed of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, and the importance of breast examinations to enable early detection. Additional information was provided to raise awareness regarding terminology and the stages of breast cancer.
Information regarding Cervical Cancer and the importance of Pap smears to promote early detection was also emphasized. Time was allocated for questions and students were encouraged to utilise the “breast model” to feel for potential lumps and to take information leaflets home.
