Bridge Raises Money For Breast Cancer Research

Pic BridgeBridge supported breast cancer awareness during October 2013 by “going pink” and managed to raise R6500 to support the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA)’s Women’s Health Campaign.

Bridge is the title sponsor of the internationally acclaimed mountain biking race – the Bridge Cape Pioneer Trek. The race takes place in October every year in the Klein Karoo and lures serious and amateur riders from all over the world.

The race also received the honour of UCI status for 2014 – an international classification that serves as a badge of prestige; attracting higher levels of competitiveness. The Bridge Cape Pioneer Trek is only the second South African stage race to be awarded this prestigious international classification.

Last year we printed twelve limited edition pink shirts in honour of breast cancer awareness and invited eleven ladies to wear these colours in support of the cause.

“The reason behind this gesture was because Bridge believes that women are the heart and soul of any family. Therefore it is important that women look after their health so they can have the strength to continue to be wives, mothers, daughters, sisters and friends

“Breast cancer not only affects patients, but also their families. Education and communication can play a vital role in understanding what a woman goes through if she is diagnosed with breast cancer. Thus, the more people we can empower with life-saving info about breast cancer, the better,” said Neels Grobler, Chief Growth Officer.

The twelfth shirt, signed by all the stage winners, was auctioned off to the highest bidder on Saturday, 26 October 2013 for R6500. Bridge is donating the procedures towards breast cancer research.
