Breast & Cervical Cancer Awareness CBR Food Security TB Support Group
An opportunity was provided to share information with Badisa Lutzville CBR Food Security TB Support Group beneficiaries and home based carers on the 25th August 2015. CANSA provided an informative session on breast and cervical cancer awareness.
Attendees were encouraged to do regular breast examinations – techniques for breast examinations were discussed, as well as the importance of seeing a health care practitioner should a lump be detected. Beneficiaries were further encouraged to use the breast model and feel the lump within the model.
The importance of early detection of cervical cancer through regular Pap smears (every 3 years) was stressed, awareness leaflets were distributed and an opportunity for questions was also provided.
