Do you have what it takes to finish this King of MTB Races for CANSA?
Starting from 2014, the race will have 3 Official Charities (CANSA, JAG Foundation and Qhubeka).
CANSA promotes everyone to be active and healthy in the fight to reduce cancer risk. Taking part in the ABSA Cape Epic for CANSA will give you the opportunity to have some Feel Good Fun, while raising awareness and funds for CANSA and the fight against cancer in SA.
Each rider is encouraged to mobilise their own family, friends, colleagues and community to donate funds towards sponsoring their ride – funds raised will go directly to CANSA. You will help CANSA to raise awareness on living a balanced lifestyle & cycling safely in the sun, as more than 30% of cancers can be prevented by making smart choices with regards to diet and lifestyle.
Our CANSA Active Cape Epic Campaign gives you the opportunity to participate in the ultimate MTB race, while raising funds to support our holistic care & support to those affected by cancer.
Says Ernst Viljoen, prostate cancer survivor and participant of last year’s race: “Thankfully, the disease was diagnosed at an early stage and I was able to beat the cancer,” says Viljoen. “I am extremely thankful that I can get back on my bike and ride again, and enjoy the sport which I have been doing for most of my life. It is not something I take for granted.”
Ladies, do you need an additional reason to support?
The Absa Cape Epic has recently announced that it will match the Ladies prize purse to the Men’s prize purse in 2014! The Absa Cape Epic is already the largest total prize purse in the world for mountain biking and the increase to R690 000 for the Ladies purse now takes the race’s total prize purse for all categories to R1 564 000 million.
